John Sumner

JOHN SUMNER (drummer) has been prominent on the Toronto jazz scene for the past few decades, playing on stages and in recording studios with most of the biggest local names and an impressive list of international artists. Most notable currently, he is heard live and on several CD releases as a member of pianist Mark Eisenman- and flutist Bill McBirnie-led ensembles.

He played frequently with various featured performers during the “Sound of Toronto Jazz” Series at the Ontario Science Centre, including in concert with his own star-studded John Sumner Quintet (Mike Murley on saxophone, Ed Bickert on guitar, pianist Mark Eisenman, and bassist Steve Wallace) on February 22, 1999.
