Dick Wellstood


DICK WELLSTOOD (pianist) was born November 25, 1927 in Greenwich Connecticut and passed away July 24, 1987 in Palo Alto, CA. Wellstood along with Ralph Sutton was considered one of the great stride pianists to emerge in the 1940s, performing the music of James P Johnson and others. He worked with Sidney Bechet and later Roy Eldridge, Eddie Condon and toured with the World’s Greatest Jazz Band.
