Brian Towers

BRIAN TOWERS (trombonist, vocalist) joined the late Kid Bastien’s beloved Magnolia Marching Band in 1982, and upon Kid’s passing in 2003, took over the Kid Bastien Remembered Band for occasional appearances in New Orleans. Towers has led Toronto’s Hot Five Jazzmakers for nearly twenty years, frequently performing with them in New Orleans, on tour in Germany and France, and at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival.

Towers was instrumental in founding the Classic Jazz Society in 1994 and remains active with that organization. He is the Canadian correspondent for The Mississippi Rag, an influential jazz periodical published in the United States.

Brian Towers was a member of the Magnolia Brass Band under Cliff “Kid” Bastien’s leadership when they performed in the “Sound of Jazz” Concert Series on January 4, 1987, and later with his own Hot Five Jazzmakers on January 23, 1005.
